Served under Lucullus in Asia and Bithynia (App. Mith. 77; Memnon 41 in FGrH 3B.357). Title not preserved. (Broughton MRR II)
Leg., lieut. under Lucullus in 73, see MRR 2.112. Thought to be a Cassius Barba (RE 29 a, Supb. 1.277), a name found among supporters of Caesar and M. Antonius in and after 45 (Cic. Att. 13.52.1; Phil. 5.18; 13.3). Shackleton Bailey, CLA 5.395, has suggested that the later Cassius Barba was a son of Lucullus' legatus; but see below, on Sornatius (1).
